The journey begins around 6.00 a.m. from the residence in Kandy and drives to Polonnaruwa. After 3 & half hours of driving, we can reach Polonnaruwa, which was the capital of Sri Lanka for about 200 years. Finally, the kingdom was transferred to Dambadeniya, and Polonnaruwa was conquered by Indian king Kalinga Magha. You can visit the archeological museum, royal palace, audience hall, swimming pool, sacred quadrangle, shiva devale, pabalu vehera, rankot vihara, Kiri Vihara, Buddha statue at lankatilaka, Buddha figures at gal vihara, etc. It takes normally 5-6 hours to visit the entire kingdom in Polonnaruwa. After visiting Polonnaruwa you are dropped back to Kandy.
