Start and end in Nairobi! 2 Days Overnight Mount Kenya Climbing – Sirimon Route takes you through Nairobi and Kenya’s central highlands, with the Hiking & Trekking tour, including accommodation, an expert guide, meals, and transport.
From the first day you land in Africa, you will experience it like an epic journey you have never heard of. It is a journey to be experienced rather than taken. This trip is for highlands nature lovers who want to take a short hike, trek, or climb at a high altitude or people who love mountains but do not have enough time to do it. Mount Kenya is the only mountain that sits exactly at the equator. You will pass through the equator on a trip and see it live.
Children policy: Minimum age allowed for participation is nine, and participating children who need to be supervised are under age nine.
You will leave Nairobi at 7:00 a.m, heading north via the central highlands to Sirimon Gate via Nanyuki. You will cross the equator for the first time and do some experiments to detect that you are exactly at the equator point before you proceed to Sirimon Gate, where you will have lunch.
The distance from Nairobi to Sirimon Gate is 2,650 meters. After lunch at Sirimon Gate, you will start the trek to Old Moses Camp. A length of nine kilometers that takes about three to four hours, passing through a forest of indigenous trees like podocarpus trees, Douglass fire, red cinder, pine, and tan through bamboo and finally to the heath part arriving at the Old Moses Hut at around 2:30 - 3:00 p.m.
In the evening, a guide will take you further for a short distance up to 3,600 meters and then descend back to the hut for dinner and overnight. At the altitude of 3,600 meters, you are entirely out of the heath and shrub part of the savanna moorland, and here you will be able to see the Laikipia Plateau clearly. Laikipia Plateau is the largest plateau surrounding Mount Kenya.
Meal Plan: {Lunch and Dinner}
After early breakfast at 6:00 a.m, you will ascend further higher, up to 4,001 meters, to the viewpoint of the highest peak of Mount Kenya. Here, you will see a magnificent view of Likii Valley and the highest twin peak Batian at 5,199 meters and Nelion at 5,188 meters, before you descend back to Old Moses Camp for lunch as you prepare for a return trek back to Sirimon Gate, where you will meet your transfer vehicle back to your hotel in Nairobi.
