It is located on Africa’s biggest inland lake, Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria was its original name, but it was renamed Port Florence for a year before receiving its current name, Kisumu.     1. Kisumu Impala Sanctuary

    It is about 3 kilometers from Kisumu’s central business district. Impalas, monkeys, the rare sitatunga gazelle, buffalos, giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, and other animals live in this lovely habitat. Five campsites with amazing views of Lake Victoria, the world’s second-biggest freshwater lake, are also located there. Birdwatching, nature walks, boat trips, and hiking are popular activities in the sanctuary.

    1. Kisumu Museum

    The museum first opened its doors in 1980. The Kisumu-Kericho Highway runs through it. It displays Western Kenyan cultural aspects, including Luo artifacts and other traditional places such as the Luo farmhouse. An outdoor snake park, tortoise cages, aquariums, and a crocodile site are all available in this famous museum.

    1. Ndere Island National Park

    It is a peaceful and beautiful island off the Kisumu-Bondo highway. A speed boat direct from Kisumu takes roughly 45 minutes. Hippos, baboons, monitor lizards, snakes, Nile crocodiles, impalas, sitatunga antelopes, waterbucks, zebras, and various bird species may all be found in the park.
